Evaluation Learning Community
The Evaluation Learning Community (ELC) provided an opportunity for states to learn the principles of evaluation and how to conduct valid evaluations to answer critical questions around program practices and procedures. This three-part institute included distance learning, face-to-face training on November 19-21, 2019 and virtual team coaching that began in late October 2019 and continued through December 2020.
Participating states engaged in a 3-stage process to: (1) identify research questions, (2) design a research approach, and (3) analyze and interpret results to make decisions about how to make improvements. By using this evaluation process, states conducted research on two key topics: (1) Professional development for implementing standards-based or IET programming; and (2) comprehensive intake strategies.
Illinois, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Virginia presented their findings to the field on December 14, 2020.
