The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) has created the need for partnerships across state workforce and education agencies to enable a comprehensive approach toward adult education and job training. Adult education plays a key role in these partnerships. The use of NRS data can help develop and strengthen these partnerships by demonstrating how adult education instruction can help participants under WIOA. When communicated effectively, NRS data can help partners understand the value of the adult education system and its resources for meeting WIOA requirements. WIOA Communication Planning for Adult Education Administrators Institute focused on how to partner effectively with WIOA stakeholders using strategic communication planning.

This Institute helped states establish partnerships across your state workforce and education agencies by developing an actionable strategic communication plan that leverages NRS and other state program data. During the Institute, state teams described how NRS data can be used to demonstrate the value of adult education; developed and implemented communication plans to enhance strategic partnerships; established goals for their organization’s strategic communication plan; explored the needs of partners and strategies to reach them with NRS and other program data; crafted effective communications messages and materials; and used NRS data to generate support from stakeholders for adult education programs.
