Data Tools for Monitoring and Program Improvement
    • Programs' data are subject to quarterly desk audit and end-of-year review. NRS data are checked for internal consistency and in relation to prior year data patterns. During on-site monitoring, student paper copy files are randomly selected and compared with data entered into the data base. Finally, as funding in Minnesota is based largely on contact hours, 3 to 5 programs are selected for independent audit annually.
    • Data are electronically flagged for inconsistency and/or missing NRS data. Programs are required to obtain missing data by reviewing student paper-copy records. The State provides accountability training as part of the annual grant application process. Bi-monthly user meetings for data management staff are provided. A conference for intake, assessment and data management is held annually. Programs have access to phone and e-mail based data management support daily.
